My Multiplus 48v/500ah Sees grid power but does not use it

Thanks, indeed, I saw that and tried it. Changed the battery type to LiFeP04 and the input current and the changes came through. But still the Multiplus is not using the grid.

@btb The Pylontech is 15 cells so absorbtion should be set to 52V and float 51V as per the Victron instructions you will find on the Victron website.

I see you have nothing on the grid code ! It’s set to none. You need to select your grid code for your country as it will load up the protection parameters for that specific grid regulation

If a gridcode is needed depends on the type of system. Usually it’s only need for ESS.

Just to clarify…
Do you want to use the small system for “night feed-in” purposes… hence the Shelly… or purely as an emergency power supply?
When you started it up, did you connect the battery FIRST, or did you connect the mains first and then the battery?
How do you charge / or want to charge the Battery … is there a Mppt on the second Lynx Port (from the right)

Hey Steffen,

  • This is in principal a very large UPS/emergency power supply.
  • The Shelly is there just to have remote control over the power and measure the total draw.
  • At first I connected the mains first but the Multiplus does not start up.
  • The Multiplus is a charger / inverter so I want the Multiplus to charge the battery,
  • There is no PV connected to it so no Mppt.
  • So I’m not using the system as a ESS.
  • I’ve changed all the settings

Again thanks for the help so far.

“At first I connected the mains first but the Multiplus does not start up”
Very, very bad idea… the little Multi is a battery inverter and absolutely needs the battery first… then the mains and everything else… it’s also in the manual… but you’re not the first to do this wrong… BUT it’s quite possible that a fuse has blown in the Multi. However, I don’t have a picture of the inside…
Disconnect everything and then open the blue cover… then take a nice photo… I’m sure there’s a ceramic fuse in front of the relays… But it’s your decision…
There are no seals, etc.!!!

By the way …

You can insert the configuration file directly here…

That makes a lot of sense. I’m away for a couple of days so I’ll do this when I’m back after December 5. Again many thanks.

No problem… :ok_hand:
Have a good trip and see you later.

Hi, I had the Multiplus 48V/500Ah replaced and it worked (somewhat) fine. Occasionally when I restored grid power it did not switch over to grid power. It turned out that the Shelly Pro 1PM between Multiplus and grid power caused issues restoring grid power. I removed the Shelly and all problems are gone now. Again, thanks for your support!
