MULTIPLUS turning off during absorption charge

, ,

I just replaced the batteries in our RV with 2x ECO-WORTHY 12V 280AH LIFEPO4 batteries.

The individual cells can be seen in the app. voltages are within .08v

SOC is at 100% when the bulk, shifts to absorption.

When charging the Bulk works perfectly, when I goes to absorption the current goes to about 50 amps then the MULTIPLUS shuts down.

When it restarts it goes to absorption and does the same thing.

I’m not sure if its the Battery BMS or the MULTIPLUS.

Any idea where to start looking.

Thanks in advance.

Can you check the settings of the multi via VE Configure and/or Connect ? …
I suspect that the charging voltage in the “Absorption Mode” is too high … possibly also an old setting of the lead batteries …
This may cause the two BMS of the batteries to go into ‘fault’ mode and disconnect the connection …

I can’t find a setting for the absorption voltage.

The system has VE smart buss and a smart shunt.

Do in need aditional hardware to use VE Configure or Connect?

I have the app and the only voltage i can see that can be changed is the battery voltage

Normally, you need an MK3 interface to access the Multi via the VE bus. You also need the ‘VE-Configure’ software.
Since you do not have a GX in your system, there is no other way to configure your Multi.

Is it a Multi Plus OR Multi Plus 2 ?

Thank you,

I will be ordering the MK3 interface, already deep enough another $70 won’t matter. LOL

Multi plus 12v 3k 120v

At the moment, you are probably using the standard configuration of the multi… For the use of LiFePo batteries, it is essential to adjust the settings.

What are your dip switch settings at the moment?

That one one thing I changed, the installer left all the dip switches set to off, I found in the documentation to set DIP 2 to on.

The system is 4 years old, I started having problems with the 2x100Ah battleborn, so got bigger batteries and went LiePo4 at 280AH each with 200Amp BMS.

After swapping out and changing the capacity to 560Ah, I started seeing this with a “bare DC” system. That is I left the house buss and the Solar disconnected to check the system.

Why DIP “2” to “ON” … means Converter Voltage to “115V” ???

Found this in the online manual at victron
