Hi I have a new MultiPlus II installed, currently standalone to get everything ready.
Is has 10Kw Revov batteries connected with 200w on the AC out
I have AC in from another separate solar system to charge the batteries
When I start it up everything works fine but if I switch the AC in (limit to 13A) to charge the batteries, when it is still in bulk charge, (after few minutes) the overhead alarm comes on and it switch off, after few tries the batteries was full and it switch to float it stayed on, the 200w is lights that switch on at night, and as soon as it switched on within 10 minutes it got to “hot” , I scanned on areas with laser temp meter and the surface temp was 26 deg C, what is wrong, it seems as soon as it start working (not hard at all) it gets to hot, is there a setting that I missed or is it a faulty unit?
This is not normal operation. I have seen MPs installed in enclosed compartments, with poor ventilation and still no overheating while charging in bulk. I would reach out to your distributor.
Plenty of ventilation, it looks like 26 deg is the top limit for temp and then shutdown, I think it’s a faulty unit or at least a faulty temp sensor.
This is my first experience with Victron itself, and it’s not good. I just heard the best things about victron but this will put me back to something else
I got the 1 in 1000 that is faulty, and it doesn’t feel good. I distrust Victron already. People said I must go for Dye or Sunsunc or Growatt, but I decided to go for Victron. Maybe I was wrong
I recently had my first issue with a multiplus. The process for verifying it was bad and getting it replaced was pretty quick and simple through my distributor. I can’t speak for all distributors. Mine is pretty awesome.
So I just remove the blue cover with the 4 screws on each side? I’ll do that tomorrow morning and see, but still it was faulty on arrival and didn’t break after use
I have a current offgrid solar system and want to upgrade so I decided to upgrade to Victron because it is good and I can’t go without power for 24 hours, but now I’m scared with this is the quality that I have to trust in, My security depend 100% on power, (My life is in danger if I don’t have power)
I was told by the distributor to courier it to them, they are far from me at my cost, to test and see if something is wrong. This is the worst experience to have on your first product. I’m very disappointed in Victron. I have just wasted thousands of rands on nothing. seems like support in South Africa is like everything else here. What can I do with a broken, dead on arrival invertor, and I have a new Cerbo GX as well, maybe I can sell that still.
