Multiplus II not charging AGMs after deep discharge

My 2x160ah service AGMs suffered a deep discharge today over 3 hours after shore power was turned off and I stupidly left the inverter on. Shore power has been reconnected but the Mulitplus won’t charge the batteries despite saying absorption charging. I have run the engine which has charged the batteries back up to 50% SOC over a few hours but the Multiplus still won’t charge the batteries. Any thoughts?

Why didn’t the multi stop discharging at the disconnect voltage ?

How far down where the agm’s ?

Down to 6% SOC. No idea why it didn’t disconnect.

In volt ??

10.4v lowest

Ok, but 10v is not a “deep” discharge for agm’s.

So the charging problem must lie in the multi.

Have you tried switching it on/off completely ?

Can you post a status screenshot of the MP ?

I’ve restarted the VE.Bus system and removed/reinserted DC fuse between Multiplus and batteries when shore power was disconnected - that enough to shut it down and restart?

Charging only from alternator. When I turn engine off it goes to discharging with no charging from Multiplus.

multiplus says it is in float.

Read the manual to enable forced absorption.

Left it overnight without enabling forced absorption and it settled down and started charging. Woke up to fully charged batteries and charging normally, albeit will need to keep an eye on how much damage the discharge has been done to the batteries. Thank you both for your input.

This is an update if you stumble upon this thread with a similar problem. I have checked the Multiplus settings once home and have access to Windows (via Parallels on iMac). All battery and other settings, such as shutting off inverter when SOC or V was below a certain level, had been wiped. This may have happened prior to discharging the batteries down to 9.7v which would explain why the inverter shutdown didn’t kick-in. All reconfigured remotely via the VEConfig app. Note to self and others to check Multiplus settings periodically.
