As has been said many times before, please do not start a multi without a battery. It is not designed to do that, it is unsupported and you may inadvertently damage somewhere voiding your warranty in the process. You could try use a suitable DC power supply if you have one available. Your warranty isn’t going to lapse in a few weeks, and hopefully you took some photos of the open box for backup. I think what Matthias is trying to say, is that if the multi starts from grid, as much as the internal GX is DC powered, the inverter/charger should power that bus, if everything is operating fine. In which case, there is a cable that powers the display from the internal controller. You would need…

The ribbon cable was actually disconnected.

What I meant is that the ribbon cable to the display could be loose or not connected at all.
