Multiplus-II configuration

Hello,

Can I configure the Multiplus-II to automatically meet the demands of my house utilities?

My System:

Multiplus-II, 48/3000/35-32, 3 x Pylontech 3000US, MPPT 250/60 rev 2, Cerbo GX (firmware version 3.54), 8 x 405Watt solar PV

To date, I have been manually setting the ‘grid set point’ to meet my demand but as this fluctuates with the thermostats on various utilities I am overfeeding the grid unnecessarily and subsequently prematurely running down my battery bank. If I could configure my inverter to be dynamic I would have sufficient battery power to run the utilities when charging conditions allow. I have the ‘VE.Bus to USB MK3 interface’ (used to set up the Multiplus at the commissioning stage). To date I have not found a way of configuring the Multiplus using ‘Victron Connect’. Could this be possible with the tools I have?

Thanks for any help.

Are your loads on the input?
If so, add either a CT or ideally an energy meter, then, when configured as an ESS it will automatically supply the loads.
Fairly basic stuff, all in the ESS design manual and config documented in the Victron/Pylon config guide.
Nothing a bit of googling and reading won’t fix.

Thanks for your help,

Yes my loads are on the input, and I have a CT clamped on that supply/feed.

Will continue reading.

Make sure you enable the CT in the veconfigure setup.
The system should automatically supply those loads to maintain the setpoint for a near zero consumption.

Hello Nick,

I have checked that CT is enabled in VEconfigure.

Then using VRM portal, ESS - settings - Grid Metering - changed from Inverter/Charger to ‘External Meter’.

Set the ESS ‘Grid Set Point’ to 20Watts

Set the ESS ‘Grid Feed In’ - ‘AC coupled PV - Feed in Excess’ to ‘Disabled’

Now on returning to the ‘Dashboard’ display after a couple of seconds the PV is disabled i.e. goes to 0Volts output.

I then have tried to set the ESS settings using the ‘assistant tab’ in VEconfigure, but was not presented with any options to adjust these parameters?

Do you agree with my settings for the ESS?

Regards

Since you use the current measurment of the MP itself, even with an external CT, and not an external gridmeter, you would need to use “Inverter/Charger”

Since you did not mention any AC coupled PV in the initial post, but mentioned an MPPT, i guess youve disabled DC feedin here.

If this is your only PV available, you would probably want to leave that enabled.

In general, many of the questions and issues mentioned here are explained in the ESS manual

Thank you for the advice
