Multiplus-II 120V System frequency

Hi all,

I recently discovered that the new Multiplus-II 48V 120V are different then the old units.
The main difference is that the system frequency can not be changed from 60Hz to 50Hz.
Does anyone know when this changed was implemented and why ?

It’s even more complicated than you thought. There are actually three different versions of this Multi:

PMP482505110 MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-95 120V
PMP482505120 MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-95 120V (UL 1741)
PMP482505300 MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-95 120V 50/60Hz

On top of that, there are multiple Comp_ID’s for at least two of those models.

Here are Victron’s current stocking levels for the three models:

As for why they made the change, they haven’t said anywhere I have seen, nor did my Victron rep know when I first asked about it. Perhaps someone on this forum has a definitive reason. I assume it has to do with UL listing and to get UL1741 they might have had to disable the ability to alter the AC frequency. Or, perhaps FINALLY they will seek UL1741SB and this is in preparation for that. I won’t hold my breath because that’s been coming “in the next year or two” for at least seven years.

If you already have an older model 48/5000 120V and want an additional one, then talk to your dealer and they can sort it out for you.

Thank you for your explanation,

The unit i need is a PMP482305100. That is the 3KVA version.
I have a couple of installs that are using those and all work and could be changed.

Now that i was planning a new system i understood that that same model with the same part number can’t be changed anymore and is stuck at 60Hz.

It is also relevant for the 5Kva unit as we also have installs with those.

My apologies. I don’t know why I responded with the 5k models when you didn’t specify. Aside from the model confusion, my other comments stand.

No worries,
Seems like the same is happening for both models.
i only saw the “new” 50 / 60 Hz model for the 5K unit.
