Have you managed to upgrade your system?
Not as yet. I live aboard my boat and work away so will have to wait until Im home for at least a few days in case it goes wrong!
A summary of what I have tried today:
Cerbo GX - reverting to version v3.63 (earlier tried with v3.73)
Multi Compact firmware installed - Versions 2608209/433/459/556 - all of them caused the inverter to disconnect, eventually reverting back to 2608159 allowed the Cerbo GX to connect. Changing dip switch settings and disconnecting the DMC did not work.
I formatted a USB flash drive to FAT32 format, loaded the file venus-data-90-reset-all.tgz in the root, to reset the Cerbo GX to factory defaults (not sure if factory default is indeed v3.63) - The Cerbo GX did not see the file, nor the storage device, it did not work.
After loading firmware 2608159, warnings still persists. I could live with the warnings, but the alarm needs to be silenced automatically.
Not sure whether there is any cure for that?!
Any ideas?
You have a MultiPlus with an old (small) microprocessor. It cannot handle xxxx4xx firmware. Depending on your intended use, you are stuck with xxxx159 or xxxx2xx. There is no newer firmware available for this hardware.
Thank you for clarifying. I was hoping that is not the case.
Do the GX factory reset exactly as explained below by Victron documentation.
will try that, thanks
The factory reset procedure worked, but made no difference to the communication error. Although the processor of the inverter is of the 2608 range (which should be upgradable), the highest firmware upgrade I can go is 2608159. Communication errors persist. Are there any benefits to upgrade to newer firmware versions other than clearing the warnings/errors? If not there would be no reason pursuing this any further.
