We just installed a new Victron system on our boat. We have a Multiplus 12 1200 50-16 120 V inverter charger. We also installed a Cerbo GX. We are trying to wire a remote switch but it is not working. The Multiplus works fine otherwise, but we would like the ability to turn it on and off using a remote switch. We can switch it off in app or physically on the unit.
I read there could be some incompatibility with the Cerbo GX. The Cerbo firmware is V3.63.
Does anyone have some insight into other things we should try or if it just isn’t possible with the Cerbo GX connected?
Thank you!
The remote switch inputs on the MP is ignored if you use a VE.bus connection since VE.bus state commands take priority.
If you can live with control over touchscreen then thats it. If not, then theres two possible solutions but both are a bit of a hack.
You can remove pin 7 of the VE.bus cable. This way the Cerbo has no longer control over the VE.bus state, but your only way of turning the inverter on/off will then be the internal rocker switch and the remote switch inputs.
You can open up the MP and connect your remote switch instead of the internal switch, since the internal rocker switch takes priority over VE.bus. Thats what ive done on a 12/800 but on my unit the internal switch was soldered to internal cables, meaning removing it voided the warranty. Since your MP is a bit bigger the rocker switch could be wired differently, for example using faston plugs. If the now-remote-internal-switch is turned on, the MP will turn on and the cerbo can switch the MP on or off just like it can currently, if the switch is off then it stays off
Thanks. I appreciate that info and the hack options. The VE.Bus definitely seems to be the barrier. I guess I have to decide how important it is before we go pulling things apart!
Thank you!
