Hi All, I’ve just updated Venus OS (raspi) from V3.55 to V3.60, and my Multiplus 2 is no longer working/visible with Venus. I see the MK3-USB device in lsusb, and can talk/see all configuration data of the multiplus 2 if I move the mk3-usb connection from venus to a win-pc and use veconfigure3. I’ve tried rollback Venus to V3.55, but the Multiplus is no longer visible.
I’ve deleted the VE.Bus section from within VRM to see if it will re-detect it, but nothing.
Any idea’s
Cheers
Hi, welcome.
3.60 is a beta version, please rollback to production.
The main sections here are for production software, and there are documented reasons why these issues may occur, especially on Pi, most already recorded in the dedicated beta category on this forum.
Pi related queries are typically found in the modifications section, so I will relocate this there.
Can you also confirm the firmware version of the Multi?
3.60 is no longer in beta: Introducing Venus OS 3.60 - Victron Energy
Oops, it was still yesterday, they were deciding on its imminent release, I see the internal announcement came through less than 2 hours ago. Would still be worth check the beta forum as tons of known issues were documented there. Nonetheless, this section is for Pi related queries, so you will get the best chance of an answer.
I would still suggest you roll back until you can get an answer. It is easy to boot the backup version.
Now it’s official
I’ve reverted again to V3.55, and still nothing. I’ve built up another pi4 with V3.55, and still it will not recognize the mk3/multiplus, so have ordered another mk3-usb. It just very strange that the system was working for almost a year, and it fails at the same time I upgraded from v3.55 to V3.60.
The Multiplus is/was operating 2611552
ok, then the mk3 and mk3 bus would have been up to date, which happened a while ago now. That used to be an old obscure issue.
I am not sure were to post. Same issue 3.60 ESS system with one multiplus is not working anymore. Revert to v.3.55 everything is working. No mqtt connect anymore, no ESS detected … seems completely broken.
What gx device do you have? Any mods loaded?
Hi Nick,
its a:
- Color Control GX
- MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 (ACOut2 switchable)
– ESS Assistant - Pylontech battery
– 1x5000 - CG EM24 Ethernet Energy Meter
- Solar
– 3x PV Inverter
– via GitHub - henne49/dbus-opendtu: Integrate opendtu and ahoy into Victron Energies Venus OS as a pv inverter
I am not sure if dbus-opendtu counts as mods.
Everything else is a very nativ ESS only setup. The Solar stuff is on the grid side and only for information.
Hi All, good news, for me(!!!), I’ve replaced the mk3-usb and everything is working again!!!. Power-off the multiplus, swap the old MK3-usb to a new one, power on, and it’s working again £60 down the drain!! The only thing vrm wants to upgrade the multiplus from 552 to 556, but it wanted to do that before. The old ESS config has appeared as normal. The question for Victron, why is/are the mk3-usb so flaky?
@Hofy the CCGX is a known issue. See here:
Hey @JohnW , good to know it works again! And I’m also left with questions, ie. how come it was necessary to replace that mk3-usb.
Considering it flaky is a bit premature: we sell I don’t know many many 1000’s or 10.000’s a year, and have not heard of issues with it prior to you mentioning it.
I’ll keep an eye out on this!
Note that VRM doesn’t want to upgrade anything; its just offering you a (relatively) easy way to do that in case you want to. And don’t take VE.Bus firmware upgrades lightly. We strongly recommend that to be done only be trained installers. That type of fw update is (unfortunately) not as simple as when doing an update of our other product ranges.
