The Inverter part of the Multiplus 1200 is working fine. As soon as I try the external hook up though, no charge is going through to the Lithium battery. I have checked all wiring, fuses etc. I’ve tested the input voltage on the AC input plug so I know the current is going in from the hook up. However, no sign of any charge going through to the battery. The rest of our system works perfectly.
The Inverter LED is on Green when the switch is set to inverter and this clearly works. However on moving the switch to charger there are no LEDs lighting up.
The unit was sent back to our dealer. It worked fine for them - so they updated the firmware to v556 and sent it back to us. However, it has made no difference to what we see here - no charging.
What happens with the LED’s if you leave the switch in inverter position and connect the AC in? This should switch to charge mode after a few 10’s of seconds.
What is your AC source? Some sources - particularly small generators have problems producing a clean enough sine wave for the inverter to switch.
In inverter position the top inverter light is there but again no charging going on.
AC source is electrical hook up to mains in my garage - normal domestic voltage. Checked on my multimeter on the AC input to the inverter/charger.
Thanks
Do you have a Mk3 and the VE-Configure software?
If so, connect to the inverter with this to check both what the VE bus monitor is reading, and also what the charger & grid settings are.
Sadly not - but I do have the print out of the settings when the firmware was updated. See attached,- thanks. (This was done at the dealer’s hence the working picture)
SOLUTION
Well after rechecking everything the only thing could be the AC input plug. The probes on the multimeter showed the right voltage range input to the charger. However the Neutral bit was a bit intermittent on moving the probe around. i.e. the metal within the plastic was not conistent all the way round so was not making perfect contact with the pin within the charger.
New part arrived a couple of days later and it worked immediately!
Mike - many thanks for helpin me think
