Multiples 2

When I switch my inverter rocker switch to ‘charge’ position it does not charge the batteries. If my batteries run low the unit recharges fine when in run mode. I want the ability to shut of the inverter and charge my batteries via my generator.

Hi Dale.
I can’t say why your Charge Only setting doesn’t work, maybe a bad switch? But I suggest you leave it in the On position anyway.

Bear in mind that the Multi cannot both charge and invert at the same time. It will passthrough genset power to AC loads, then charge with any remaining power up to the input limit set for the genset. If the load exceeds the Input Limit, then it will invert to apply ‘Power Assist’ (and there’s no power left to charge anyway). Setting Charge Only, it won’t Power Assist to honour the Input Limit.

I run a genset too. And when it runs I don’t care whether it’s serving loads (via the Multi) or charging - effectively it’s all adding to the battery…

If you share how elese the system is programmed, that would help.

Thank you John,
MOST of your response made sense, not all. We’ve just had 4 days of no sun. I have bypassed my inverter loads to just save the batteries (600 A-Hr). My battery is at 24.5V. The Multiplus is set to switch back to line power at about 24 V and go back to battery at about 26V. My goal is to use the charge switch to allow the Multiplus to charge and absorb up to 28.4 V. Likewise, if I’m on generator I would not use the Multiplus and would like to use charge only until the batteries top off.
Secondly, If I DO have a bad switch, is there a way to get parts without going through the distributor I purchased from. It was a man in OHio who has proven almost worthless in three years now. For example One of the batteries I bought from him had a warranty issue. It took me a year of wrangling and at the end I proved my case to Battleborn, who agreed and replaced the battery.

Is this a conditional AC connect?
It may be what is interfering with the charger onky position as it will only connect if lowwr 5han that voltage?

Do you have balancers on your battle born batteries? (Am assuming you have 12v drop ins)

Thanks for your reply. It is conditional connect. I will check that out.
I don’t know what balancers are. There are three parallel groups of two 12V batteries each. Once they reach absorbtion they all stabilize to the same voltage.
