Multi Plus 12/3000/120 AC Output Voltage

When I’m hooked up to shore Power with the inverter one the input and output Voltage shows 120V and the Battery Voltage reads 13.8V. When I’m powered by Solar/Batteries and put the inverter on the Output Voltage reads 76V instead of 120V. and the Battery level reads 13.75V. As soon as I start a load the AC Voltage readout goes up to 120V, but the Battery Voltage goes down to 11.76V and triggers a low Battery warning. The Batteries are fully charged and tested as in very good condition.

My question is:

Why is the Voltage readout 76V (instead of 120V) when the inverter is on and no load is connected and why does it go up to 120V when I connect a load to it and why is there such a large dropoff in the Battery Voltage.

Do you have one of the power save modes operating on the multiplus when there is no load such as Search Mode or AES that limit inverter output.

Regarding the low voltage, that could either be dead batteries or a poor wiring connection, fuse, isolator or breaker between the battery and the Multiplus so even if the battery voltage is good, there is voltage loss in the wiring. You need to see what the battery terminal voltage does to decide which is the cause, or measure from battery terminal to Multiplus terminal with a multimeter to see if there is voltage loss.

Thank you very much for the advise. I was not aware that the Multi Plus has a Power Safe mode but on my Victron App “Connect” it says “AES - Load below threshold” and showing the 76V. How can I find out that I’m in Power safe mode and can I cange that via the phone app? Thanks again for your help. I appreciate it.

A Multiplus can be programmed using either of the options below, detailed instructions in the links.

  1. A smartphone using the VictronConnect app with a Mk3 USB interface between the phone and the Multiplus.
  2. A PC/laptop using the VE Configure program with a Mk3 USB interface between the PC/laptop and the Multiplus. I am not sure in VictronConnect on a PC/laptop can work like this or not.
  3. A PC/laptop using the VE Configure program through a GX device if you have one connected to the Multiplus and the internet. This is VE Remote Configure.

Thank you very much for all the info you sent and you work. Really appreciate it. I will try it out and let you know if it worked. Thanks again for your help. Norbert
