I have a 3-month-old setup in my RV that has been working flawlessly until today.
1000W solar panels
920 Ah of batteries
MPPT
DC-to-DC
Inverter
Digital Mutli Control 200/200A GX
The latter has been having issues today. At the end of the day, I turned the inverter off, and the display started flashing on all lights. I found, in the Victron Toolkit app, that it can be due to failed bootloader firmware updates of failing to load the firmware. However, I did not try an update and everything else is working as it should, therefore I suppose that the firmware is loaded correctly (may be wrong here, as I am a newbie).
I tried the following:
Turned the inverter back on (inverter works, but as soon as I turn it off, it starts flashing again)
I powered down the inverter with the switch on it. No success.
I tried setting the control to charging only, to no avail.
Again, this is only when the inverter is switched off.
Turn off the inverter on the inverter switch and on the Multi Control switch.
Disconnect grid/ shore/ hook up power.
Disconnect the Multi Control from the inverter
Turn the DC supply off and leave for a few minutes.
Turn the DC supply back on
Turn the inverter on, is everything working OK with the inverter stand alone.
Turn off the inverter switch and make sure the Multi Control is still off.
Reconnect the Multi control.
Turn the inverter switch back on then the Multi Control switch.
Hopefully everything is now working, if not, then I am not sure of the next step.
Thank you very much for your reply. However, I did not get to try your recipe. When I got in the RV this morning, the problem was gone.
I had left the multi control in charging mode, so the lights would not flash all night, and when I switched it back to off, it was okay, I then ran all day with the inverted on, and switched it back to off at the end of the day without any issue.
The matter appears resolved, but I have questions:
1- Should I be worried that something is lingering?
2- To your opinion, was this really a bootloader firmware issue, as reported in the Victron Toolkit?
Sometimes the VE Bus system gets into an odd state between Multi Control and Multiplus or Cerbo GX and Multiplus. Often the way to clear it is a full power off and restart. The other thing that can sometimes work is just disconnecting the cable between the controller and the Multiplus, I should have mentioned that as a first response before the full power cycle. I would not worry about this unless it keeps recurring.
