MPPT Temperature in VictronConnect

Hello,

I am away from my boat and using VRM to monitor my system. I’ve recently noticed that there is now a “temperature” reading on each of my MPPTs under the “VRM” tab in the VictronConnect app…not on the actually VRM webpage, but just in the app.

I’ve never seen this before under the MPPTs when on the boat and looking under the “Local” tab. I’ve asked several friends who run Victron equipment and none of them see the field in their apps. It’s a nice bit of information to have, but I am concerned about its origin and accuracy. As mentioned, I am currently several thousand miles from my boat and have watched the MPPT temperature increase by 15-20 degrees (Fahrenheit) over the past week, which is concerning me. What’s more interesting is that the temperature will jump up about two degrees or just stay consistent at night when the MPPTs aren’t pushing any current and I’d think the temperature would decrease. This makes me wonder if the field is erroneous and I shouldn’t be concerned with it.

If it helps, there are no temperature sensors connected to the MPPTs, batteries, or anywhere in the system.

I checked my 3 MPPT’s over Victron Connect. None of them show any temperature. Are you sure you haven’t activated any “shared voltage/current/temperature sensing” on nearby devices? In the logging there is a battery temperature variable but it is greyed out.

Same here. No temp figures through VC and VRM.

Thank you for the responses! I think I’ve got it sorted. The only temp sensor is a Battery Sense on the AGM start battery. I didn’t mention it previously because it’s never seemed to be networked to any other devices or shown up in VRM. Somehow that no longer seems to be the case and the MPPTs started displaying its temp reading. I don’t think I changed any settings to make that happen, but I am thankful for it. A neighbor hopped on to check and found the start battery hot and off gassing. Reminds me of my flying days…always trust your instruments!

Thanks again for taking the time to check and respond!
