Hello All from South Africa,
I have a mppt 75/15 smartsolar with a 12v lifepo4 battery and 300w panel.
All has been going very weel but i just noticed today that the battery was in float at 14.09.
Using the smart life po4 profile for battery.
Any ideas why this happened?
On the screenshots its the graph at 11.17
My guess is that bulk/absorb had just completed and it had switched to float. If that’s true, the charge amps for the solar charge controller should have been zero or close to it, depending upon other loads within the system. When watching voltage on the graph, include amps too.
Thanks for the reply, yes the current was close to 0 but i have not seen float at that voltage but will have a look if it happens again. Waiting for the smart shunt which will make monitoring easier.
When absorption ends at 14.2Vif there is little load on the system it can take some time for the battery to discharge down to 13.5V, remember 13.5V is less than 100% SOC so the battery has to discharge down to that voltage.
Thanks, since its a new battery, i have been checking the charge pattern for about 2 weeks. I have not seen it float at that voltage. I have watched the solar power drop when dloat os reached and it does so quite rapidly just not this time. Weird. Anyway will keep monitoring.
So i got the smart shunt installed and see that there is a 0.1v difference only under load in the readings. The 2 devices are connected via ve network.
Is this normal?
