Shunt showing battery charging to 88%, but solar on float

Hi,

We’re having an issue where our victron solar controls switches to float when our battery is an mid 80’s percent according to our victron smart shunt. If we charge with a 240v mains charger, we can get the battery to 100%, so maybe it’s a settings issue?

We have 2 x 100ah lithium leisure batteries and use the victron lifepo4 profile on the victron solar app.

Can anyone please shed some light on the issue/suggest a solution, so we can get solar to fully charge the batteries

.

What are your MPPT settings. How much solar do you have. Do you get more than 8 Amp current into the battery during absorption.

From the data you have posted I think you may have a high voltage drop between your MPPT and the battery. The devices view shows the battery at 13.28V and the MPPT at 13.49V with hardly any current flowing. This issue will make the MPPT go into float prematurely. Do you have a multimeter to check the terminal voltages from MPPT to battery. You may have to small diameter wire, too long a length of wire, a loose connection, failing switch or isolator. You can set up a Smart Network over Bluetooth between the SmartShunt and MPPT so the MPPT uses the SmartShunt voltage to compensate for voltage drop, BUT check for AND fix voltage drop before enabling this.

Thanks for taking the time out to reply and offer suggestions. I’ll have a look at the weekend and hopefully find the issues, following your tips above.
