I have the 12v MPPT 100/30 charge controller. Victron recommends putting a 40 amp mega fuse on to the distributor. I see many people putting 60 amp to avoid nuisance tripping. Is this a safe practice?
For solar chargers, the fuse rating should be at least 1.25 times, and less than 1.5 times the max expected current. so 40A should not suffer nuisance tripping.
Cables need to be rated to the fuse size, so moving to 60A would require a larger cable size.
