Hi, I’m new to solar and don’t want to start a fire so I have a few questions. I want to change my old charge controller and battery to the new ones (victron mppt 100/30 controller and a 12 volt lithium 100 ah battery) and trying to figure out how many amps the breaker should be between the solar panel and controller, 15 or 30? Also, how many amps should the fuse be on the battery? My inverter is 600 watt. From what i understand I need to cover my solar panel to disconnect, can I cover it with black plastic or will it get too hot? Can I disconnect it right away or do I need to wait awhile? How long can I leave the solar panel disconnected and does it need to be covered while it’s disconnected? Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. I can’t seem to find step by step instructions online that I can understand.
How are they wired? What are their specs?
What does its manufacturer recommend? On face value it will be around 600÷ 12 = 50A. But that is onky true if it cannot overload and that is its peak. And your cabke is sized at about 10/16mm².
With a breaker that is unnecessary, i assume you mean while you are decommissioning the old system. A blanket or something or do it at night.
As long as you want to. No it doesn’t need to be covered.
There are decent instructions for this one here. With fuse sizing panel sizing and cable sizing
