MPPPT and Charger at the same time, same battery

Hi everyone,

Newbie but very enthusiastic off grid guy here

I have an Victron MPPT 100/30 and a 100ah battery. I also have a Victron Blue Smart IP22 charger. When the weather is bad my battery runs low on power. Would connecting the MPPT with the charger at the same time cause any issues ? It would only be occasionally, to top up the battery and not a permanent solution.

Thank you!

There was a similar question the other day.

Of course it is possible.

As noted above it is perfectly OK. What you can do is set your ac charger absorption and float voltages maybe 0.1V lower than your solar so the solar takes a priority over the ac charger, if there is enough soar it raises the voltage higher than the aac charger setting so the ac charger stops charging. Not a 100% perfect priority mechanism but pretty good.

Thank you very much!
