MPII was working fine now no AC input, 120V present at AC in & out, inverter works, suggestions?

New RV system, 48/3000/120, was working great charging & inverting on 15A outlet at home for a month. Went to campground 30A pedestal, plugged in, increased input and charge values to reflect 30A, went to bed with shore power powering panel and charging battery. Woke up and saw battery wasn’t fully charged, checked and saw that 120V in had disconnected and was no longer recognized by MPII.

I’ve spent 5 hours troubleshooting, not sure what else to do. 120V is present at AC in & out, but MP acts dead when set to charge, & only inverts when in regular “on” position. Pedestal tests properly for voltage, bonding, and frequency.

I’ve: updated firmware, reseated wires, checked connections, tried multiple settings via Connect for input & charge amperage, and several hard resets. This is a newer unit and doesn’t have the 1/8” input jack on older units that sometimes resolves this issue.

I’m out on the road and would urgently love to resolve this. Is there anything else I can try, or do I need to find a Victron technician?

Thanks in advance

Sounded at first like a fuse to the battery bank has died.

But you did this did you do it on ac power on the input?
If you managed that then the inverter is working, do you have a GX?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the inverter appears to be working perfectly, and continues to power RV. I have a single green light “inverter on”

I’m kind of in survival mode on the road right now. If I can’t resolve this soon I’m thinking about getting a 48V charger before my food spoils. Would I need to disconnect the MPII each time I use an external charger? Thanks again

No you won’t need to disconnect the MP even when you are charging the battery with a separate charger.

Is your switch position in the on position? Bith in the GX and on the inverter itself?

That’s good news that I won’t have to disconnect, thank you. Hopefully I can get the MPII fixed– “cheap” 48V chargers are more expensive than I thought they were!

I don’t have a GX, just the MPII. Only inverts in “on” position, appears dead in “charge” position.

It won’t invert in charger only, but should pass through.

If it is not charging in charger only then it is possible the charger is disabled in settings but that doesn’t make sense to do in an RV

Did you reprogram after this?

The MP doesn’t see AC at the input, and does not pass through in any switch position. When in “invert” it only inverts w/o charging, and when in “charge” the unit appears dead, with zero lights.

By reprogramming do you mean re-adjust settings? If so, yes, and have checked them repeatedly.

Thanks again
