Mounting within a metal box?

I have a Victron Energy MPPT 100 15 Solar Controller and an Orion-Tr Smart 12|12-30 DC to DC charger.

Per the installation instructions, it says to mount them vertically on a non-flammable location.

Can they be mounted inside a metal box that has six 3.5cm vent holes?

As long as there is good ventilation for the units

Right now, it would simply be passive ventilation.

I just had a Victron support person call me back. He recommended that I monitor the controller and especially the DC to DC charger temps by way of the application. If it’s getting too warm/hot, to consider installing a ventilation fan.

Short answer, installing in the metal box/enclosed area isn’t a problem as long as the temps stay within an acceptable range. If it gets too warm or hot, consider installing a ventilation fan.
