MC4 connectors for an IP22 charger

I’m considering installing an IP22 charger in my camper for occasional charging of my LiFePo4 batteries off of shore power. I already have a fused pigtail from the batteries for a portable solar panel that I occasionally use that has the standard MC4 connectors.

Would I be able to safely wire the IP22 to connect using the existing MC4 fittings, assuming the wire gauge and fusing was appropriate for the IP22?

This would be the most convenient scenario for me, as both the shore power charger and solar panel would only be used occasionally and never at the same time.

The IP22 model I’m leaning towards is the 12v 20A.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

@Wbbern

The good mC4s are rated for 30A, so check your purchase to make sure. So you should be ok with the 20A charger.
They key is it must be properly crimped though.

Thanks for the reply and the tip on proper crimping!
