Mains Input 3 phase

Hi, I have 2 questions here.

1, I am currently waiting for a 3 phase mains grid system to be quoted and if i go down this route I want to be able to charge my batteries up at night using my Multpluss chargers, set to a time to charge and stop charge, and then during the day i can use my batteries on the multipluss, unless i need extra power then i need the mains to click in, is this possible in assistance?

  1. Even thou i have a 3 phase multiplus system installed at the moment is it possible if i get a single phase grid system, i can charge my batteries using the single phase incomer, but still run a 3 phase system?

Yes
Yes

How?

Lots of possibilities, but all can be found here using the search functions and reading through the manuals that victron supplies.

For version 1 you could go the oldschool way and just install a programmable timer to connect your multiplus to the grid.

Or use a gx/venus/cerbo if you wanted to make it complicated.

Version 2 is easiest achieved by setting up the 3 mp as offgrid, feeding the batteries with solar and a seperate grid-fed charger.

When setting up the 3 phase inverter group, you need to deselect the charge as group function, that way you can charge the battery from one inverter, whilst the other 2 remain in invert mode, so continuing to supply the other 2 phases. This is for charging from single phase. Otherwise, the 2 inverters will block the charging, as there is no ac input.

Just remember that disabling switch as a group also prevents ESS being used, in case that was a requirement.
