Single Phase Grid > Three Phase Output - Charge from Grid overnight

Hello,

I have a client who has a single phase grid supply, but they want a three phase output, and the ability to charge the battery bank overnight during cheap rates.

As far as I can tell it is possible to have single phase to three phase, but just to confirm it’s possible to schedule charge from the grid? Would the set up be switch as group turned off, and ESS assistant installed on the inverter connected to the grid?

Thanks!

Yes, it’s definitely possible. But it is NOT possible to have switch as group disabled and run ESS. ESS requires switch as group to be enabled. You would need to set up your own means of scheduling when to charge and not charge. There are a variety of ways to do that depending on your skill level and preferred approach. We would likely do it via NodeRed because it’s the most flexible. You could do it with generator auto/start using only assistants in the inverters or a combination of generator start/stop on a GX device triggering Ignore AC on and off with the inverters. Good luck with your project.

You need a 3phase off-grid system and a single phase grid tied charger system who works on the same battery bank.
