Main battery switch - unable to move it in the on position when closing the circuit

Hello,

I have a totally incomprehensible and mysterious problem with my main battery switch. When I close my circuit (connect the negative to the bus bar) I am unable to bring the main switch in the on position. Without closing

the circuit I can move the switch as intended without problems. I have 600ah 24 Volt system in my RV.

As you can see on the photo, the positive wire from the batteries (5 in parallel) leads to a class T fuse where then a positive wire goes to the main switch and then to the positive bus bar. Without connecting my negative wire to the negative bus bar, I am able to switch the main switch to on as intended. After connecting the negative, the main switch is blocking short before the on position and I am unable to lock him in the on position. As a result I am unable to use the main switch. I had the same problem with a main switch from another manufacturer.

How is that possible, that drives me crazy. Hopefully someone can help me, thanks

I don’t really understand:

Is it a mechanical or electrical problem?

It seems to be an electrical problem. As I wrote, without closing the circuit I am able to snap the switch in the on position, after closing the circuit I have a great resistance and I am unable to snap it into the on position, the switch is blocked short before snapping in the on position.

Have you taken the switch apart to see if there is a visible fault?

no, because the switch is normally working without closing the circuit and I had the same problem with an other switch.
