Dear Victron enthusiasts,
for an install in a sailing boat: it is unclear to me, why Victron recommends a main switch between Multiplus and BMS/battery. The Multiplus has an off-switch itself, which ensures zero current. A Digital Multi Control can be used to place the off-switch at any convenient location. What is then the purpose of a true main switch between MP and BMS/battery? When will the main switch be typically set to the off-position?
The on/off switch or the Multi Control are only soft switches, they do not isolate the DC input, they turn the charge/inverting electronics on/off and the ac input relays.
If you need to maintain the Multiplus then without an isolator you would need to pull a fuse / disconnect wires, needing tools but OK.
If you need to isolate the Multiplus in an emergency then needing tools is not tenable.
