Charge controller shows External control

I have a 3-phase system with three MultiPlus 8000s. My three charge controllers are connected to the Cerbo GX via VE.Direct. Now, here’s my problem: I can’t adjust the voltage on my charge controllers because “External control” is displayed. This isn’t a problem with my 450/200, where I can adjust the voltage; it is connected via CAN bus.

Could you please help me with this? I’d like to set a slightly lower voltage for the summer, but at the moment I have to switch off my three charge controllers that are connected via VE.Direct.

I’ve just found this setting, but I can’t change it to see whether this might solve the problem.

If you have a lithium battery it will be setting the charge parameters. The manual settings aren’t strictly speaking required, but it is a good idea to do so, something that must be done before adding the battery comms.
Else you need to disconnect comms, restart the whole system after a power off, then you can edit the parameters manually.

You can force less voltage in the DVCC menu: I supose that in German it should be “ladencontrol”

Don’t do this, it doesn’t solve the requirement of the OP and is only intended for balancing batteries temporarily.

He wants temporarily lowering the charge voltage, why it can’t be done with DVCC? Thanks in advance

My mistake, thought he wanted to set manual voltages on the chargers.
DVCC setting only works with managed lithium batteries, not unmanaged ones (he didn’t state which).
In this case there is no need to lower charge voltages for lithium.
For lead batteries that is what temperature compensation is for.

In either case, the setting shouldn’t be needed.

I see “External Control” and that voltage and suposed that them were lithium managed batteries, maybe I’m not right. But for sure, lithium batteries need to reach the CVL set by the battery BMS minimum once a week or at least every to weeks but for a long time in this case.

External control will happen when DVCC is enabled, does not require a managed battery - in this instance the inverter/charger’s algorithm is used not the mppt’s internal one.
With a managed battery it is still external control but managed by the BMS, the inverter/charger settings are ignored.

Many thanks for your replies. I have LiFePO4 batteries, 40 kW/h, without a BMS. Mine is an off-grid system, so no AC input is connected.

However, I noticed that I have an ESS installed, which I don’t actually need, do I!?

I don’t want to keep the batteries charged to 100% all the time; in summer, I only want to charge them to 80%. But I can’t seem to adjust these three charge controllers, and if it is possible, I don’t know where.
