Keeping a 560Ah battery in a multi-628Ah bank by using two Orions

Dear all, I have a bit of a quandary. Last year I assembled a system with an MPII-12/5000, CerboGX, Smartsolar, Lynx Shunt and a Fogstar Pro 560Ah battery. The system has been working under test perfectly and I am now expanding the system with more battery. However the 560Ah Pro batteries are no-longer made, so it looks like I will get two or more 628Ah Drift Pro II. I understand that I can’t just add the new batteries in parallel; all battery banks need to be the same and will then communicate and work well together. This is frustrating as I really don’t want to just cast the original 560Ah and render it redundant.
I have an Orion XS for starter-to-liFePO4 charging but haven’t yet wired it in. I wonder if I could wire this from starter to the 560Ah battery, relying on the Orion’s engine-sensing to charge when the engine is running. I could then run a second Orion from the 560Ah to the main 628Ah bank busbar, but configure the input voltage lockout so that it is equivalent to ≈20% charge on the 560Ah battery. This would ensure the 560Ah always remains above 20%, but allow this battery to act as a “header tank” for the main 628Ah bank. I may also introduce a small generator as some stage, so an alternative would be to run link the generator to the 560Ah bank using e.g. a Phoenix, again with an Orion running from the 560ah to the 628Ah bank.
with many thanks, Simon

I can not think of any reason that you could not do this. The 560Ah battery and the Orion from starter battery to 560Ah would not be connected to the Cerbo so that they run independently. The Orion between the 560Ah and 628Ah would be connected to the Cerbo and would probably always show as alternator.

Thank you - ok, I shall prepare to dive in (quite a bit of preparation)
