Yes I know very well how a 2x120 works. I understand that there would be no reason to buy 2x120s for this setup but the situation is a customer already has a 2x120 in service but now wants to be able to invert for 240v loads. He wants to buy a 2nd matching unit to make split phase.
The manual for the 2x120 shows a setup for parallel configuration (not helpful to make split phase) and a 3-phase configuration which is not necessary for us but it would imply that we can use just the L1 input/output, ignore L2 input/output, and treat the unit like a non-2x120. It just seems weird that they specifically show a 3-phase config but make no mention of split phase but maybe not weird as it is us in the USA that are weird with our power specs.
Can anyone say they have first hand experience with Two 2x120 wired with only L1 in/out used on each and configured for split phase just like a non-2x120?
To be fair, split-phase is mentioned in the manual, though not gone into great detail because indeed, it’s the same as a 1x120 in that event, so setting it up is already well covered elsewhere.
OK that mention in the book is to use a Autotransformer to create split phase so that is a separate solution than what I am asking about. I would like to determine if it is possible to wire up two 2x120s to make 180 degree out of phase (split phase) off the two inverters (just like you can with any 120v single phase multiplus). Derrick says you can.
And also “to be fair” the regular Multiplus-II 1x120 manual has the same exact verbiage that you posted. I guess that is your point…it is the same so it can be done even though it doesn’t say it can or can’t.
