Is it easy to integrate an E-Go Charger Pro cable into a Cerbo GX?

Hi, I’d like to buy an e-go charger PRO cable, but I’m wondering how easily it integrates with the Victron ecosystem.

Not out of the box, at least, but perhaps you can make use of this:

Does anyone have any advice? I want to buy an EV charger with a MID meter and RFID. Unfortunately, Victron doesn’t offer these features. I see that e-go, Zaptec and perhaps others do. I’m not biased, but I happened to come across the e-go charger Pro cable. Are there any better options that can connect directly to the Cerbo GX, or will it always have to be via an “external API”?

I’d wait a little for the new Victron EVCS v2, which is due to come out later this year, if all goes well.

As far as we know, this one has the following options

Hi Marc, okay, good tip. Thanks. Do you know if there are any teasers online yet?

Good evening,

I use actually 2 of these at home, you can use a card, it’s dynamic with your home fuses and home load, sun charge, etc, etc, completely open source, so, you can do what you want (if you know how to do that btw).

It’s also Dutch, and all can be found on GitHub about it qua software and integrations, and send a question to Stegen, and in no time you get an answer and a solution from him, very good.

I tried to convince the owner some years ago to integrate directly with Victron, but that didn’t happen I believe…

Good evening,

And here it is;

Modbus TCP / RTU Integration:

The new Stegen/SmartEVSE setups support Modbus.

You can connect it directly to your network alongside a Victron Cerbo GX.

It will cost you totally more than an original Victron charge point due to all ancillaries you have to buy with it, but it will still be cheaper than an off the shelf charge point which you have in mind.

The good thing is…open source…

Regards, Jeroen.

Give it a try, and if it doesn’t work, I might need the log. I might be able to build something for you — it depends on how similar the APIs are.

I’m going to wait a bit first until the new Victron charger comes out.

Good evening,

Indeed, hopefully 2 way, V2H…

Regards, Jeroen.
