How to connect fogstar battery to rasp pi

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a fogstar 15.5 kW battery (with PACE 200A BMS) with the intention to connect it to my rasp pi venus OS system (multiplus II 5000 and 150/35 mppt charge controller). However, I need to use CAN bus port of the battery to connect it to USB of rasp pi and I couldn’t find a cable for that.

Fogstar says there are a lot of victron users that use their batteries but couldn’t advise me how to do it.

Does anyone have any idea?

Many thanks

I did set up comms once for a JK BMS. I used a CAN RS485 HAT on the pi. It worked fine and was communicating. You might need to buy a couple and try them, or find someone who has one that works. I dont think the PACE BMS is a great one. Hopefully, you can get some useful information.

@sayanora They advertise the rj45 to usb cable, two versions, for the seplos kits so they should be able to advise. Fogstar also clearly states support for Victron protocol out of the box, so a bit worrying if they cannot assist you.

many thanks. I’ll try. I will watch some videos.

It is very worrying indeed. I bought one of their cables. It didn’t work. now trying other possibilities. Many thanks
