How can I switch the battery's ESS modes using Node-RED?

Hi all,

i search for a way to switch in-between the modes -Optimized with batteryLife, optimized without batteryLife and keep batteries charged- as VRM Controls does. However, while searching through all the Node-Red nodes, I did not find such an option.

Any ideas or other approaches to achieve this?

Find the Victron pallette - ESS control node and select venus gx- measure ment is ess state. It is there

thanks for your fast response, but unfortunately thats not possible there. (see attachment)

Note: Using GX-Firmware V. 3.73 and Victron Nodes V. 1.6.64 (latest, non-Beta)

Other Ideas?

It is in an ess or system control node. Just search in this forum. Discussed many times before.

appreciate your answer, but i can promise, thats my first effort before i post a new topic here. As i mentioned above, i have searched through all senseful nodes including Custom Control, VRM API etc. but found nothing. Maybe i have overlooked somthing, that’s why i post it here.

Not ess.mode use ess state…for the measurement.

but ESS State is “only” readable and not an option to control. Do you use an other version? Beta?

I will update my GX to 3.73 and find out if maybe it has moved. And let you know.

I have been switching states for ages now using this method.

It isn’t there after the update i couldn’t find it either and the flow I have does not work. I am uo to date on 3.73 normal release

Hi, I’m running venus OS 3.70~88 and still do not have the “ESS state” in the ESS output node. But I found another way to edit this setting from node red, you have to directly act on the dbus: dbus · victronenergy/venus Wiki · GitHub I use the “custom control“ node: for custom I select “com.victronenergy.settings“ and measurement I select “/Settings/CGwacs/BatteryLife/State“ [image] [image]

It seems the only way to do it right now it with a custom node. So i have changed my flow to suit.
