Having difficulty setting this up so it works how I think it should, i.e. charging the battery to 100% during off peak prices 00.30 - 05.30, and selling back to the grid with excess energy at peak times, even if there is no solar generation, I would like to sell the stored battery energy back to the grid while retaining enough to continue powering the house until off peak times when the battery will get a full charge again.
What seems to be happening is the battery charges to 100%, only when I set SOC to 100%, but at 05.30 (end of off peak), the battery doesnt discharge, the system pulls electricity from the grid at peak price for consumption.
If I set the SOC to 30%, then the system doesnt start charging the battery at 00.30.
I ideally I want the battery to discharge down to 30% throughout the day, either by consumption or selling at peak times, and then charging back up to 100% in the off peak period ready for the next day.
I have even had the battery charging in the off peak period at 0.085p, but also selling back to the grid at 0.04p in the off peak periods, so I am charging high to sell low, no point in that.
I have set no charge times now for the peak periods, i would like to set no sell times for the off peak periods, but cant seem to set both, its either one or the other.
What level should I set SOC to, or does the DESS set and change that based on the forecasts, I know DESS doesnt have a charge discharge schedule, but would be nice to be able to set it to charge to 100% in the off peak period so I know its actually going to achieve that SOC, so I have excess charge stored to sell back in the peak periods.
Or am I looking at this completely wrong
At the moment I am on set peak/off peak prices, at some point I will change to more dynamic pricing, but would be nice to know I can get the system working on the fixed pricing first where its a bit easier to check its working as it should
Thanks for any replies
