ESS set to 100% SOC (also tested with ‘keep batteries charged’)
PV AC is running normal
PV DC is reduced
Have you reverted to 3.72 to confirm if this is beta specific or a general issue?
It also helps to fully detail the installation.
Sometimes a ve bus restart helps clear things up.
Especially if there has been alot of switching of firmware and settings.
Thanks for replying.
The system had a complete reboot after i had replaced the Shunt because of a defective one last week.
Before the shunt exchange I had this ‘issue’ too but the didn’t pay to much attention to it.
I will check 3.72 if it still has the same outcome. Today around 16u it should reach full charge.
The setup is as follows
214kWh with 3x2 parallel 8kVA Multiplus.
Parallel ops for the 8K isn’t supported.
Are you using the ATS solution with the custom firmware?
Let us know if it works on 3.72 or not.
Here you see that L1 and L2 are injecting though Charging the battery with 10kW+ and PV is giving 11kW+ and consumption is pulling a little. Phases are out of balans although there is no need for as the energy is available for the system to arrange it balanced.
This always occurs when the battery is almost full and reduces the charging power.
I noticed that the moment the unbalance occurs the system is in absorption.
The absorption voltage in the Mutli’s and the SmartSolar is set to 56.8v
As far as i can see in the graphs the voltage is not reached but it must be hit in a short moment that is not registered?
Today (v3.72) and yesterday (v3.80~14)) had both the same outcome, Absorption was activated and the unbalance started to occur.
I will set the Absorption voltage in the multis and de smartsolar to 57.6v to avoid absorption state triggering in the multis and will observe it tomorow.
Notice:
VE.Bus State shows ‘invalid Date’
i did change the absorption voltage with VE Config in all multi’s tot 57.6v.
After changing and uploading the config the multis though keep going into Absorption mode and i don’t know how and where to change settings so the absorption mode isn’t triggered.
This way i could test the phase unbalance.
After the changes it keeps the phase unbalance, it somehow changes unpredictable.
Power is available but not divided equally over de phases, in this case suspect it has something to do with MP2 Absorption mode.
You are right often it does clear things up.
In my case the imbalance keeps popping up as soon as the batteries are getting full and i use ‘Keep batteries charged’ with ‘DESS’ switched on’ but also with ‘DESS’ switched off.
It also does occur with ‘Minimum SOC’ set to100%
Case
Batteries are getting charged from MPPT SmartSolar 450/200, SMA STP15-50 and the Grid.
As soon the batteries reach 90% and are heading for tail current less charge is flowing in.
Problem
The MPPT and Grid lowers power but Grid is phases are showing imbalance.
Then if i switch to:
‘Optimized w/o BatteryLife’
‘Gridsetpoint x’ i set it just a bit lower than the Grid measurement shows.
Result
Phases are in balance again until the Grid measurement gets below the gridsetpoint.
It is reproducible.
If I restrict charging power in system setup → charge control below all power in sum from MPPT, SMA and Grid then it occurs also.
