Hi all, we’re considering purchasing a small inverter generator for the winter months to assist our solar. We have a Blue Smart IP65 12V/15A to charge 2 x PLA T105AGM 6v 220Ah batteries. Would anyone be able to advise what generator output wattage would be required please?
Thank you
Watts = Volts x Amps.
Charging is say 15V so
15 x 15 = 225 Watts. Add on some allowance for efficiency losses, say 300W minimum. If you can not get a generator below 1kW (1000W) get a second charger or larger charger.
The charger will charge at a maximum of (approx.) 15V multiplied by 15A = 225W. Plus allow 15% for loss in converting AC to DC, say 260W total. I doubt you can get a generator that small.
From flat, it would take about 11 hours to charge the batteries. You might want to get a bigger charger…
Must type faster…
