Fixing The GX Wifi Display Transport Error

Bug with Android GX Wifi Display
When used with a GX device that has a password set for accessing it over the network. After about a day or so the Android display will stop showing the GX device status and show the following error

"[6] Disconnected, attempting to reconnect"
"[256] Transport connection error"

I have Android GX Wifi Display installed via QR code method on a Samsung A9+ tablet running wifi gx display version v1.00.

I have to open the service menu and tell it to reload a few times before it will then bring up a page asking me to login to the GX device again

If I login then it will work fine for another day or so and then show the same error shown in the first photo above.

My GX device is a CCGX with version 3.55 of system software. It was upgraded to 3.60 recently.

The GX Wifi Display software should remember the GX devices password, and auto re-authenticate so that it keeps working

Similar Issue - problem is - it does not take my password - to the point - Which Password is this? GX Password?

I’ve tried all I ever setup, but non see to work.

Have you tried just a single space as a password?

I would have laughed so hard - but sadly it did not work.
Since I can’t login there is no menu - no other options.

Looks like it will be a hassle to do a full wipe and re install - which I’m ok to do - but not 3-4 times a year if this happens randomly

I will flag this with the team. Hopefully someone gets back to you.

It is asking for the security profile password. Have you set it?

On new units shipped with v3.50 or later, the default device password is the same six-digit random PIN used for Bluetooth, printed on the enclosure on the GX device.

You can find related settings via wired or built-in display in this menu:
Settings > General > Access & Security > Local network security

Check this section for more details:

I’ve actually updated my password (changed from BT default) and I also get this error about every couple of days. WIFI connection direct to Cerbo GX about 3" away (Android tablet).

No issues with remote VRM.

There are two different issues reported on this thread. Which is the one you are seeing?

Not accepting password or the “Transport Error”?

Transport error

I see this issue, if I turn the password off the GX display is much more responsive and no errors when waking or refreshing the display.

As soon as the password is enable you get these errors and sometimes can’t get it to work without a reboot.

I’m using a Lenovo M8 tablet and get the same transport error. It occurs a random times when I wake the monitor up.

Some times the tablet wakes normally. Other times the android code restarts and connects. Other times I have to restart the tablet and it loads and connects ok. Using default GX password.

It appears (I haven’t run more than a couple of days in this mode) but if I tell the screen to not go to sleep it always works. not a mode I want all the time.

Its a nuisance for sure that I hope a solution is made\found without running without a password.

We have included a fix in the latest Venus beta, which should resolve this issue.

For those already using the Venus beta: please update to version 3.70~28 and let us know if the issue is resolved for you.

For those not currently running a Venus beta version: this fix will be included soon in an upcoming official release. We advise against updating to the beta, as these versions may introduce issues that require advanced troubleshooting.

FYI

Venus OS v3.65 has been released today and includes a fix that should solve the connection and “password lost” issues.

Just quick feedback. WakeUp and connect is now much faster.

This did not appear to help things for me. Sometimes it connects sometimes not. If not, restarting the tablet connects.

Lenovo M8, Venus OS v3.66, wireless GX v1.01

Hi All,

Am in the same boat. Firmware 3.66, I’ve update to v3.70~39 Beta and no change.

Lenovo M8.

Getting the dreaded (happens randomly):

*****************************************************

[6] Disconnected, attempting to reconnect

[256] Transport connect error.

*****************************************************

I usually have to get back into the WiFi and again select the Cerbo and connect.

I also noticed the below - The WiFi is saved, but “Won’t automatically connect” message as per below

(yes, have the Auto-connect tab selected)

Is the app installed via the QR code? If that is the case try this:

  1. Forget all the WiFi networks
  2. Go to the app WiFi settings which is in the hidden menu (not Android Wifi settings)
  3. Connect to the Cerbo WiFi

Some Android devices ignore the auto-connect if the selected WiFi access point has not internet connection.

Something that seems to help overriding this default Android behaviour is to switch on Airplane mode, then enable wifi and connect to the Cerbo.

Thank you for the reply.
Tried it, to no aval.
Have now Factory reset the tablet and now trying to use it as a normal tablet connected to the CERBO GX WiFi
http://venus.local
So, seems to be holding connection
Also, reverted back to v3.66 Firmware

Will keep an eye on it.

This may be my problem. Auto connect is on and the connection is saved. I looked at the wifi settings and it saying no internet connectivity. If I click on the network it connects. I’ll look closer at the steps you suggest and see if they help.

I tried the suggestions to no avail. Tried a static IP with same random results. The M8 wakes up and connected OK sometimes but not others.
