It would be nice if the Lynx Shunt could have a firmware update to give the Smart Shunt equivalent of being set as a DC Energy meter to allow the Lynx Shunt to measure alternator output and display as an alternator in VRM/ Remote Console
I doubt this will happen, the older BMV-700 and 702 have not received this either.
The Lynx Shunt is a relatively new product newer than the SmartShunt … just a very expensive fuse holder then …
But @pwfarnell as you previously said … I assume you are qualified to speak for Victron?

Not Victron employee so nothing official comes from the “Victron Experts”, we are volunteers.
The Lynx Shunt is a large device, not easily suited to having several of them installed in multiple systems like the SmartShunt.

I only have one and I would like it to function as intended it is a serious lack of functionality …
@pwfarnell So the solution is to remove the Lynx Shunt, bridge the positive rail from the Lynx In and Lynx Distributor and put a SmartShunt in the negative rail … you cannot be serious?
Do Victron do a kit for that … ?
I am not telling you to do that, I am merely stating that for most DC energy meter type applications a small unit suffices and Victton have most cases covered.
I have a Lynx Shunt … it has less functionality than an older product and is more expensive … why is it unreasonable to ask for a feature request? @pwfarnell by the way that is exactly what you are telling me is the only solution.
