EVCS don't start - waiting for sun

So today same situation. Car connected and automatic mode “waiting for the sun”.
EVCS after factory reset and setup as requested :

So what I did:
I started charging in manual mode / 6A
after 10minutes I switched to automatic mode and immediately pressed START
and automatic mode started

Really strange and question is, what automatic mode needs to start, I really don’t uderstand why doesn’t start.

Thanks for help

Hello Alex.
“allow low excess solar power for auto mode” has a threshold value. It is 500W by default. You need to override this value if you have an excess of only about 200W. It is on Modbus TCP holding register 5134. You can do that with any Modbus TCP client software or from NODE-RED. After that, it should start charging.

Hello Nicolas,
Yes, this value is really there :

I will change it and try, if it works. But my goal is to disable a feed-in at all, so shall I set this value to 0?

Next what isn’t really clear for me are this two options :

Battery timeout (green) doesn’t work, because car charging drain battery till stop SoC isn’t reached and it takes much longer time than 30min.

‘Stop charging at backup battery SoC, if Off Grid’ - applied for all modes(manual, auto, scheduled), but only if your system is in off-grid mode. It means that the grid is not connected; you can see it on the EVCS dashboard, the GRID block will be absent.

Battery/grid power timeout - applied in auto mode only, and when there is no excess solar power to continue charging. On the dashboards, you can also see a countdown block(under schematic). If “Allow low solar excess for automatic mode” is active, this timer will be inactive as long as solar excess > value in register 5134.

5134 - can’t be 0.

Auto mode will work without ‘feed-in’. The difference is only that with ‘feed-in’, it can easily receive information on how much excess solar power we have. Without ‘feed-in’, in some cases, EVCS will start\stop charging cycle to detect if we have any excess solar power.

My understanding was that excess solar power value is power which is feeded into grid. Or which value is it? Is it only actual PV production?

When feed-in is disabled, there isn’t any excess solar power, because all what is produced is also consumed by the house.

I have never seen, that charging stopped after 30min. But let me check countdown.

Solved by Nicolas, see at the bottom

then I’m completely confused.
In the EVCS setup I can see :

and my situation :
Solar field (MPPT + Fronius) - 10kWp
Feed-in is right now limited on the 200W, but I want go to the 0
Battery pylontech

What is a problem :
Afternoon when car comes back home, battery is 100% and PV production is aprox 400W (200W House + 200W Feed-in to the grid). MPPT production is 0 and Fronius 400W. But there is free solar power ready for car charging (more than 5kWp). Automode will not start, there is message “Waiting for sun”.

So I want start EVCS in auto mode and charge a car as long as there is a solar power enough for car charging. I don’t want use a battery for EVCS charging or only for limited time (let say 30min)

What I must set enabled/disbled on the web interface and what change via Modbus?
Maybe chang modbus register 5134 from 500 to 400 will help to start (still don’t know if this value is compared with PV production or with feed-in value), but if I will decrease, charging will drain a battery, because countdown will not start when PV production is higher than 500/400 ??

From my undestanding setup “Allow low excess solar power for auto mode:” will not work if “Allow battery/grid power for auto mode:” but if “Allow battery/grid power for auto mode:” is enabled, EVCS will drain a battery !?

Is it correct ?

Cerbo can see a pylontech batteries (now 100% charged):

I will check, but how this will help me with EVCS ?
I can’t disable limit for feed-in

Do you have Modbus over TCP ticked in the settings of the fronius? - es I have. Fronius is working correctly. No problems with Fronius

When feed-in was set to 1500W, EVCS was working correctly with “Allow battery/grid power for auto mode:” set to disabled
Start without any problems and no battery drain.

Problem is, that I need to go to NO feed-in system and with this EVCS auto mode doesn’t work

I’m also AC IN

why not, thank you, but I’m afraid I won’t be able to find the problem.

question is, what is your PV production when EVCS is starting auto mode

3000w

And this is big difference.
Because with this (3000w) you can disable “Allow low excess solar power for auto mode:”
Means you have production higher than 1300W needed for normal start

my setup :

If you can try for a few minutes with the AC Export limit on at 5amps and turn off the grid feed in limit, just to see if you have enough solar to wake the panels up.
