EV Charging station - unstable power charging

Hi there,

we observed tricky behavior at the one installation:

  • Victron charging station (22kW, EVC300400300) with Cerbo as stand alone (w/o PV installation)
  • newest FW,
  • EV Car BMW ix1 edrive 20 (car limit is 22kW, check on another charging station with no issue)
  • charging stable up to 3x 12Amps (3 phase)
  • once trying to charge by 13+Amps (3phase), charging is unstable ( every few second drom to few kW and rump up again)
  • charging station check with another EV car (Tesla Y) and no issues observed up to 16A (car limit)

Any experiance with that? Reccomended solution?

Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Jan.

No one? Mr. Popescu, could I ask you on your opinion @Lpopescu ?

Thank you very much,
Sincerely,
Jan.

Hi, most probably PE issues. Try measuring the voltage between PE and N while increasing the charging power. If that voltage is not close to 0, and it is increasing while increasing the charging power, then that’s the cause.

Thanks for comment…
Tomorow we will visit the customer and check the PE, and voltage between N and PE…
It’s strange to me that situation that Tesla is beeing charged well and BMW (customer car) not is repeatable and consistante… but tomorow we will see more…

Probably it’s more sensitive

Seems to be not because of that…

between PE and N is constantly 0V no metter what is the charging power …

Any other suggestion?
Sincerely,
Jan.

where are you measuring?

output of the RDC , charger is 5m downstream of the new CYKY 5x10

Jan.

can you send me a video? I asked you the same in a private message

So far customer send me video from the car infotaiment… Target charge current, set up to 16Amps…

Today customer come to our fasility where we have an another Victron EV 22kW charger (same model, same FW) … Charging stable with no issue up to 3x25Amps (our input limit) … Therefore car should be out of the issue …

I never said is an issue with the car, I presume it’s an issue with the ground. That’s why I asked for a video with the measurements. Also, a good test would be to test his EVCS at your office or the opposite.
