I have allways been using ESS with led acid batteries.
Now i have switcht to LFP.
I have modified my ESS to the new values (bigger batterties).
I use PV with ESS
When i now save the ESS setings the system refuses to charge. It connects to the grid but will not charge or indicate bulk etc. All charge leds are off. When i remove ESS it will charge. I have been testing the whole day with settings but can not pin point the problem.
ESS assitant is updated to latest version. (Was allready)
My setings for ESS are:
System uses:OPzS or OPzV batteries. (Tested with other setting but no change)
Battery capacity 560 Ah.
Systain voltage during first 24 hours…: 46 V
Sustain voltage after 25 hours: 50 v
Acepted the default dynamic cut off values.
inverting alowed again when voltage rises 1.2 volt above cut-off.
PV: yes
Restart PV invertors… 40 volt
Frequency values: 50.20, 52.70, 53.00
Total installed PV power: 3600 watts.
Total installes PV panel power: 3600.
I played around with this a lot but it didn’t help
I am realy getting desperate.
Can anyone help?
Pieter
Thanks for the reaction anyway. Any more hints i could try? I have realy tried allmost anything i think but hopefully anyone out there has had the same problem i need ess to work for that was the whole reason to go to LFP and dynamic contract…
Mains is connected.
Multi switches to mains.
Then mains is the only led that is on.
Have tried sone more settings, but nothing seem to work.
Could not be an ess bug could it?
It has work’s perfectly in the past.
I can send you the config file’s if that is any help?
I find it a bizar problem.
Been working with victron for 2 years now, never encountered anything like this.
I might have solved it.
First i started MP without cerbo connection to see if cerbo was the reason.
Did not help.
Then i updated cerbo. Did not help.
Then after a while watching i saw the bulk charge light go on for a few seconds and then all went off again.
This gave me an idea.
I checked the bms on the batteries and they were in battery overload. They had switcht off charging. This resets after a few minutes. Then MP starts again.
Lowering the charge voltage a tiny bit kept the batteries from going into overload.
They have been acting normal for one hour now.
What i don’t understand is why this does not happen when no ess assistent is loaded. This still i can not explain.
Can anyone?
On keep batteries charged, the DC bus voltage is raised by 0.4v
For some batteries whise control is not bith voltage and current limiting this can create a problem
Also you have loaded an ess assistant for opz. Use the lithium with other type bms.
It is important to start all in the same place with troubleshooting.
For ESS and bms control to work it has to be plugged in.
Do you have DVCC active?
Did you also change the charge profile on the Inverter?
Ah, so ESS indeed raised the voltage.
I indeed have ess set to “keep batteries charged”.
So you say this is by design?
I did lower the voltage by ~0.4 volt i think.
They are on victrons default now for LFP.
But anyway, i am happy again.
Couldn’t sleep whole night.
It still looks ok now.
Everybody who reacted: thank you.
Will wait for a while and if all still ok i will mark this question as solved.
Yes it is. It is to prioritise the grid over battery. Sometimes just set it to 100% SOC in case of grid faliure is a better choice for some batteries {depends on the battery}
I have Eve LF280K Prismatic 280 Ah. A grade.
I have two sets in paralel. A set has an 1P16S configuration.
Every 1P16S set has its own JK_PB2A16S20P bms running on software version V15.38.
One more thing.
Battery is at 98%
Usage is 340 watt.
When i connect a 900 watt load the battery low led starts blinking and i get warning mails.
Any idea what setting i should change?
