(English via google translate) Hello, I have a problem with the VRM download files. For some time now it appears that empty cells are not really empty. When I copy the data to my own Excel file I get the error message ‘A value in the formula has an incorrect data type’. When I then delete the invisible content of the cells the error message disappears and the formula works fine. This problem did not occur with files that I downloaded before the beginning of March. Can this be solved?
I am experiencing the same issue. It’s called an empty string, which is a string cell with no content rather than a blank cell. I have put a lot of effort in building an excel model that automatically analyses VRM data exports, and the whole model is now no longer usable with this issue.
Any clues on how to resolve this? Is this issue even known with the developers at Victron? Who do we contact to find a solution?
I have a VRM data export from March 18 where this issue was not present yet. An export downloaded on March 27 does have this issue. So the data export format seems to have been changed between these two dates, and this issue of the empty string cells occurred with that change.
I have found a solution that works for me. See this topic: vba - Excel telling me my blank cells aren't blank - Stack Overflow
Especially the VBA fix on that page worked for me in my model.
Of course it doesn’t resolve the underlying issue of the data exports, but it may be a functioning work-around for your application as well.
