@dfaber a “related” question regarding Green Mode, which would be very important to me:
Is it planned in Green Mode to charge the battery from the grid in winter, when there is almost no PV production, at cheap purchase prices and then use the battery during periods of expensive purchase prices?
I use Green Mode, but in summer I would be able to manage without DESS, i.e. with standard ESS, if there is sufficient PV production. But especially for the winter, I’m really hoping for the functionality of charging the battery cheaply and using it during expensive periods.
But why did it begin to sell at 0:00, when energy price is lower?? Still green mode, did not touch anything.
And it indeed sold during night, to min SOC. There’s for sure bug in green mode calculations.
My PV production ends at about 20:00, I suspect VRM does not start selling while PV is still generating something.
Switched into trade mode at 9:26

Do you still see this behaviour?
Unable to respond, I restricted discharging to greed some time ago.
Will check as soon as we get some sunny days.
Question: what is your battery cycle cost set at ?
If the grid cost is lower than your battery cycle cost, it’s actually cheaper to take power from the grid than from battery.
Cycle cost set to 0.02 euro.
Actually I do not care about cycle cost. Even if energy price is below zero I have to pay grid fees/taxes/etc, which are at min > 0.05 euro/kwh.
i have the same issues with a client in the netherlands. the battery is in trading mode and somethimes de battery charges at a high price to sell it at low price even though the formula used was already preprogramed by victron (Frank energie)
