Hello,
we are experiencing an issue with the Dynamic ESS feature in Victron. When DESS is enabled, the system does not discharge the battery into the local loads, even when the buy price is fixed and set high.
Instead, it continues to draw power from the grid, even though the battery is full and the load is significant. When Dynamic ESS is turned off, everything behaves as expected – the battery discharges normally into the local loads.
We also noticed that DESS sets a strange SoC target of 86%, without clear explanation or economic reason. There are no SoC limits or other constraints configured in ESS settings that would justify this behavior.
System Details:
-
ESS Mode: Dynamic ESS enabled
-
Battery: Pylontech, capable of full discharge
-
Grid Meter: Installed and working, ET340
-
Buy Price: Fixed (e.g. 7 CZK/kWh for testing)
-
Sell Price : dynamic
-
Firmware: 3.63 Cerbo, 556 Multi
Expected Behavior:
When buy price is high then regardless of sell price, the system should discharge battery into consumption to reduce grid purchase. Please see attached.
