I have this setup in my campervan, but it shuts down the charge all the time, if I turn off one of them, everything works perfectly.
Same setup on both Orion XS
The car has a smart alternator of 180 amp

Hello Claus,
your configuration is exactly the same I want to do as a next step in my Camper Van, Citroen Jumper 2019 with 210A regular Generator. Currently I’m using one ORION XS without any problem with a SmartShunt, SmartSense and a 330AH Victron Smart Battery same to you.
What’s about your wiring of both ORION’s , everything same in terms of length and diameter? Same 60A fuses and installation? How is your installation generally, ORION near to the starter battery or to auxiliary battery?
I would try first to delete the VE.Smart Network and let the ORION’s run with there own Voltage measurement.
Greetings from Germany

Sometimes having VE Direct cables connected to a GX device and a VE Smart Network at the same time can cause erratic behaviour. The recommendation is to remove the VE Smart Network and see if that solves the problem.
Hi Summiteer
When I only run one XS, no problem, but when both are powered up and set up the same way they shut down.
I will try deleting them from the VE.Smart network
You need to look at the input voltage.
Maybe the input voltage is not stable and drops to much if both Orion try to run.
Can you also try to start them one after another (remove the remote plug or disable one via VictronConnect).
Let one start, wait a minute or so and then let the other start.
1 XS with 50 in and 50 out, works
This morning I tried this on both at the same time and it worked
In 30 (60)
Out 20 (40)
This doesn’t work on both at the same time
In 40 (80)
Out 30 (60)
I’ll try this later
In 30 (60)
Out 25 (50)
I think the total out shouldn’t exceed 50
This is strange. Is there any limitation with your aux. battery? Which battery you are using? Victron with external BMS or something else.
You don’t need to adjust IN and OUT, if you set IN to 30A it will automatically regulate the output to keep the input current below that.
Did you check the input voltage?
A regular Lithium 480 amp with a max charge of 100 amp and a Victron 712-BMS
Input is 14.4-14.9
In idle or when it’s charging?
You need to check it in the moment the Orions stops charging.
The Orion is only looking at the input voltage to decide to charge or not*.
With 14,4-14,9V the Orion should charge without problems.
*and if there is a signal at the remote port
Hi Claus,
but everything looks ok now. Both XS are charing in Bulk with 30A up to 14.2V and going into Abs.
Your Input Voltage steps up from 14.3 to 14.8 because of the Abs mode and the lower current. So next step would be trying the same with max. current 2x50A. ![]()
