Does ESS "optimize without battery life" works without grid meter?

Hi, i have a Multiplus II 48v 5000VA, PV inverter SolarEdge 4360Wp, Battery pack 48v 14,7kWh but no carlo gavazzi grid meter installed yet. What i see is that the PV surplus doesn’t activate charging the battery. Do i need a grid meter to be able to get this setup working? I’m planning to install it but was wondering if this solves the issue.

As far as I am aware, unsupported PV inverters need a meter configured for measuring it’s output.

So independent of what the dashboard is showing i should have a meter installed. The dashboard just do the calculation PV minus AC load minus battery charge = Grid.

Solar edge seems to be supported via modbus so if it appears on the GX discovery list then you shouldn’t need a meter.
