DESS - Using grid for house loads during peak time

Hello

I keep trying DESS every month or so to see if the logic is working any better for me. However everytime I try it it consumes grid power to cover house loads during peak energy costing. I am on Octopus Intelligent Go in the UK so 25p peak and 7p off peak (day and night). Outgoing export at 15p.

DESS seems to do a good job at dumping the battery and planning ahead. However if I boil the kettle for a cuppa or put the oven on during the day DESS takes that energy from the grid and not the house battery. This does not seem right to me. The battery energy would cost me nothing (7p charge at night) but grid costs me 25p. Do I have some settings wrong ? Am I expecting too much from DESS?

Thanks

Mine’s in Green Mode with a Grid Setpoint of 0W and it does use the battery for my tea brewing - provided it’s in a self-consume period - when I see a blue bar in the DESS Energy graph instead of a salmon pink bar! So, yeah, I think you are missing something but I don’t know what it is! Have you tried Green Mode?
