DESS never going to zero, always plus or minus

Victron MultiPlus-II 48V/5000VA/70A-50/230V.

I’m using Victron VRM DESS as provided, with a DIY 16 kWh LiFePO4 battery with a JK BMS.

Even when my DESS is scheduled to go zero/idle and have the house completely on grid power, there always is this residual discharge of around 90 Watt. Why is this?

This behaviour was also seen in the other direction, so always either charging or discharging. Today I see the battery does go to idle when PV is just sufficient to maintain the grid point to zero. But the continuous discharge when there is no PV remains.

See here a screenshot (1) of a prediction, notice the predicted use of grid during the night, and a screenshot (2) of what actual happened with the continuous discharge in blue.

(D)ESS uses grid to balance and will never be zero, so if you dont want it to feed from grid set a slightly negative setpoint (-50w)

Sure (D)ESS will be zero, when the schedule is to use grid power and not charge the battery. All consumption is from grid, 0 wattage from battery to usage. This is the problem, my system always discharges with 80w. Look at the difference between the screenshot 1. and 2. In 1. you see the forcast to use only grid power from 00:00 till 08:00. But when you look at 2. you see there was this continuous 80w discharge between 00:00 and 06:00.

The setpoint IS set to 0w, and no power is returned to grid, because my house uses more than 80w.

This screenshot 3. shows a situation where the battery is discharging while I would expect the battery to idle.

Sounds like the same “issue” as this, correct? DESS wasting money by discharging at low power with active inverters most of the time - #5 by vaursechs
