DESS / Modbus Registers

Having had a quick search around, I’ve not yet found a means of obtaining a central status from say the Cerbo surrounding what activity is being carried out by the DESS schedule.

For example, a system is running with DESS using Optimised without BatteryLife……

MPPT is feeding loads and charging battery.

DESS has now from schedule decided to charge from the grid. I can see the import figuratively from the grid and obviously via the schedule graph.

Previously, I would identify behaviour by checking the ESS mode - ie I used “keep batteries charged” and “w/o BatteryLife” as a “mode” to identify and set system behaviour. Is there a DESS status register that states what action the system is currently undertaking?

I’ve been through the Modbus register list and didn’t notice anything obvious against documentation.

Nothing on modbus, but on the dbus you can check com.victronenergy.system and everything under the /DynamicESS path. Easiest way to read those values is probably using Node-RED with a custom input node. Also check that path under com.victronenergy.settings.

Haven’t gotten around yet to add a specific node for Dynamic ESS, but that will come.

Excellent! Thanks @dfaber !
I’ll take a look at dbus. Does that mean that modbus will eventually get an update?
