DESS: Green Mode sells to grid instead charging Battery

Hi,

Same issue here.

  1. DESS off = the right way. Charging battery.

  1. DESS on = Sell PV directly into grid

My configuration is correct. The first 5-7 days it runs really good with DESS activated.
It loads the battery in the night when the price from Tibber is low.

But the last few days the DESS makes trouble.

The only correct option is = back to normal ESS

Sorry guys it is a nice idea and the right way but at this moment it’s not usable.

I think there is a bug in the Green mode.
It seems that the logic works like the trade mode.

Greetings from Germany.

Same issue on my installation.
It probably only happens when solar forecast is smaller than estimated consumption forecast (I also got this from another post).
Only workaround for me is to disable to sell enery to the grid.

Same for me.

DESS active
Price is low PV => grid
DESS deactivated PV => battery

For this hour DESS deactivated.

Possible cause: Target SOC is already reached at 11:30 due to poor solar prediction

@dfaber @Barbara
Could you take a look ar this problem please?
Thank you very much!

Hi Dirk how are you?
Because the DESS green mode is still in development I did set ESS to ‘keep batteries charged’ every day manually to do a full charge every day.
Did this mess up my algorithm ?? It is kind of self learning is it not ?
For a few days now I did not touch any of the settings but the battery is empty and not charging.
how to clear my algorithm? or is this not necessary ?

Thank you

I appear to be having a similar problem in Green Mode.

My PV diverts to the battery whilst not in a DESS scheduled charge period. When the charge period is activated any PV energy over the allotted charge amount is diverted back to Grid.

MY PV is AC coupled and I do not have a solar forecast.

Apologies for the poor photos I will try to learn how you all get those great pictures.

Tried also; Trade mode with ‘sell back to the grid - off’ but no changes so far.

Thanks, keep you posted

Today I just Disabled the Green Mode, PV to grid at almost the lowest price while batt was <50%
Something is really off.

How is this going now? any updates ?

It would be practical to have some kind of flowchart about DESS.
Which tells how exactly the algorithm of DESS is making the decisions.
That would make it easier for us to troubleshoot and return debugging information?

thanks

Hi there, I am green mode and that (selling to grid rather loading my battery) still happens in my installation.

exactly that problem is addressed by dognose’s HACK: [DESS HACK] Unexpected Bat2Grid and Solar-Feedin. (Green Mode)
Working good since days on my side:
Before installation i saw PV → Grid even if Battery was below 100% !
Today i see - TargetSOC is below actual SOC but PV still goes into Battery

Seen the DESS hack. And have enabled Green mode again this weekend (now summer is gone, and PV is low it seems to behave) So I’ll just wait for an official “green” update from Victron.

I just want to raise tis topic again. @dfaber Now with the new pre-release, is there a possibility to test a sloution?
Would be greate if this issue will be fixed in the next release.

I do have the same Problem even with the latest versions. DESS prefers to feed in @low solar yield rather than charging the (small) battery…

How can you solve that?

At the moment only @dognose 's Hack solves this.

Thank you @grua . finaly found the installation instructions in the quite long thread, and it was quite easy to install on 3.51.

Will report back if the problem still exist
